Anna J. Kowanko, of Upper Jay, Studies In London, England With St. Lawrence University

2012 Sep 11

Anna J. Kowanko, of Upper Jay, is among 11 students beginning their studies at St. Lawrence University with a semester in London, England. This is the first time the option to study abroad has been offered to first-year students in the fall semester.

Kowanko is a graduate of Keene Central School.

St. Lawrence welcomed 669 first-year students on campus in Canton, New York. Each first-year student participates in St. Lawrence University's innovative First-Year Program, an introduction to the liberal arts curriculum taught in residence halls by faculty teams. Clear writing and speaking skills are stressed, and careful advising is provided for all students.

Students in the London First-Year Program also live and study together, and take three additional courses. Through this program, students who view global engagement as an important goal of their education are able to take advantage of St. Lawrence's tradition of excellence in this area from the very start of their college careers.
