Anna Kassab of Media Studies In Ethiopia With St. Lawrence University

2012 Aug 17

Anna Kassab, of Media, studied in Ethiopia this summer as a participant in St. Lawrence University's Summerterm course there. A member of the class of 2014 at St. Lawrence, Kassab is a graduate of Penncrest High School, majoring in global studies.

In the course Ethiopia: Ecology, Knowledge and Women, students looked at how household arrangements, community organizations and regional trade networks are activated in concert to mitigate the conflicting structures of the global economy, particularly as they affect women.

Located in Canton, N.Y., St. Lawrence University is a coeducational, private, independent liberal arts institution of about 2,300 students, founded in 1856. The educational opportunities at St. Lawrence inspire students and prepare them to be critical and creative thinkers, to find a compass for their lives and careers, and to pursue knowledge and understanding for the benefit of themselves, humanity and the planet. Through its focus on active engagement with ideas in and beyond the classroom, a St. Lawrence education leads students to make connections that transform lives and communities, from the local to the global.
