Princess Ngwu to Participate in Summer Research Internship at St. Lawrence University

2017 Jul 6

Princess O. Ngwu will participate in a faculty-mentored research internship at St. Lawrence University this summer as part of the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program, or CSTEP.

Ngwu is a member of the Class of 2018 and is majoring in psychology. Ngwu attended De Witt Clinton High School. Princess will work with Marsha Sawyer on a project titled, "Summer Service Scholar Program - Siena College".

Students awarded CSTEP internships will complete a faculty-mentored research project, develop oral and poster presentations, and prepare for graduate school admissions tests. Throughout the summer, students will participate in a "Community of Graduate Scholars" seminar where they will develop their writing skills, work with faculty and staff on graduate school application documents, and learn how to navigate the graduate school interview process. They will also have the opportunity to attend a professional etiquette dinner and participate in volunteer activities with the Grasse River Heritage Group.

CSTEP, a program funded by the New York State Department of Education, is designed to increase the number of underrepresented undergraduate and graduate students who complete pre-professional or professional education programs that lead to professional licensure and to careers in mathematics, science, technology and health-related fields.
