William McMaster Takes Part In St. Lawrence University's Sustainability Semester

2015 Apr 22

William C. McMaster of Scotia participated in St. Lawrence University's Sustainability Semester for the Spring 2015 semester.

McMaster is a member of the class of 2016, and is majoring in environmental studies-economics. He graduated from Scotia-Glenville High School.

St. Lawrence students enrolled in the Sustainability Semester live and take courses together on a homestead not far from campus. Similar to its highly successful Adirondack Semester, students in the Sustainability Semester take courses that focus on sustainability from such disciplines as environmental studies, English, philosophy, history, performing arts, biology and geology. Students also work on site to grow food, build and help renovate energy-efficient structures and live as sustainably as possible. Students will engage with organizations and individuals specialized in land use and food production, and they are guaranteed an internship opportunity upon successful completion of the semester.
