St. Lawrence University Campus Space Named to Honor Longtime Administrator Lisa Mazzola Cania

Canton, NY (09/21/2022) — "Laurentian for Life" Lisa Mazzola Cania was honored on Sept. 10 with the rededication of the Alumni Council Campus Room, on the third floor of the Sullivan Student Center, in her name.

A joint effort by the Board of Trustees and Alumni Executive Council, the rededication recognizes Cania's indefatigable focus and commitment to St. Lawrence University during her extraordinary 34-year career spanning the years between 1987-2021.

By the time she retired in 2021, Cania, a native of Rome, New York, had touched the lives of thousands of Laurentians. She served for 10 years as director of university communications, was promoted to associate vice president for university relations, and after another decade in that role was promoted to serve as vice president of community and employee relations.

During her time at St. Lawrence, she oversaw at one time or another a variety of administrative operations, including admissions and financial aid, the annual fund, university communications, human resources, community relations, and Title IX compliance. She held the corporation office of University Secretary for the Board of Trustees for 10 years and was the senior staff liaison to the Alumni Executive Council for 19 years. And in 2000, she received the prestigious Jack Taylor Award for Exemplary Professional Service to the University.

For more than three decades of her career, St. Lawrence served as her second home. Now Cania, who lives in Lee Center, New York, can return to visit a welcoming campus space with her name on it.
